Group meet 31st January: Initial Ideas and brainstorming
Here are the ideas that were put forth during the monday meeting.
Garbage Organizing System
Problems:
Recycling is problematic
Having big or several bins is impractical
Garbage needs to be taken out frequently
Sometimes the garbage gets smelly
Possible Solution:
"Revolution of the garbage system"
Compartmentalization of Garbage bins to enable separation of garbage.
Easy to use and adjust garbage dividers.
The new Shopping basket
Problem:
Large amount of shopping is hard to carry
Currently available trolley bags are unattractive
There is no possibility to separate
Associated with older people
No separation as a result no provision for fragile objects
Its not compact
Possible Solution:
A multipurpose collapsible hand carry bag
Unisex: back straps for boys and side straps for the girls
Compartments can be made and adjusted
Kitchen Cabinet Organizer
Problem:
Messy
Space constraints
Hard to organize when you have a small space to work with
Possible Solution:
Pull out drawers to utilize hard to reach spaces
Hanging bags from vacuum hooks for fruits, etc.
Adjustable separators within cabinet
Shaving Mirror
Problem:
Steam accumulates on mirror making visibility low
Possible solution:
Vacuum mechanism to prevent steaming up of mirrors
Vacuum mechanism to prevent steaming up of mirrors
Must be compatible across different shower types
It shouldn't be heavy
Easily movable and extendable
Laptop Platform
Problem:
Uncomfortable to sit with Laptop on lap for too long
Base of laptop gets too hot
Position or placement is uncomfortable
Possible solutions:
Tray like system with adjustable levels or heights
Base is equipped with cooling fan or holes for heat to escape
Reminder Light/ sound
Problem:
Long list of things to do
Forgetfulness might lead to skipping of one or two eg. keys
Possible Solution:
Reminder system
Light/ Sound/ interactive system
This serves as a checklist of things to do or check for before leaving home
Money logger
Problem
Rely on memory to keep track of spendings
Balancing incoming with outgoing can be tricky
Obvious solution is to use a book
Possible Solution:
Using a book is boring and tedious
A memory logger stick wherein you can scan expenses as they occur
This stick could be integrated with your computer or online banking system
Making Lunches:
Problem:
Process is boring and uninteresting
No incentive
Possible Solution:
Provide added incentive for making lunch

Task: Develop a new consumer product and associated brand identity that is a response to an every day problem, issue or irritant that you have experienced.
Process:
1. Reflect and brainstorm ideas as a group
2. Create a list of story boards and anything else that will help you explain, explore and articulate the problem
3. Be creative but don't loose the objective
4. Discuss, sketch modeling
5. Identify 3 product possibilities that solve 3 different problems
6. Identify their related markets (highlighting customer characteristics, related brands they buy and their lifestyle aspirations in both visual and text terms.
7. Prototype the design
8. Develop brand identity
9. 3D visuals (models) of the product to explain what it is, how it works and the value/benefits it offers
10. Packaging Design
11. Marketing Strategy and supporting promotional design campaign

Final presentation
